ARTIZAN CAFEHARROGATEVisit our welcoming South American inspired café for delicious hot drinks, cakes & light bites.
Our café provides supported training & hands-on work experience for young adults with learning disabilities. A place where joyful inclusion is modelled for the whole community to witness and partake in. Attitudes are transforming as a result, and the local community becomes ever more positive, friendly and welcoming towards people who were previously treated as invisible or merely tolerated, rather than being valued and esteemed as they deserve to be. |
Why Do We Do It?
People with disabilities in the UK and the developing world often are socially isolated, have reduced access to education, and are excluded from employment. They have skills, talents, and abilities and would just like to be given the same opportunities to shine as everyone else. Our mission is to enable, empower, and support differently able people to reach their full potential.

Stray Ferret Business Awards Success!
We received the Inclusivity Aware at this prestigious event in March! Thanks to the whole team's efforts, it's a place where joyful inclusion is being modelled for the whole community to witness and partake in. Attitudes are genuinely being transformed as a result and the local community is becoming ever more positive, friendly and welcoming towards people who were previously treated as invisible or merely tolerated, rather than being valued and esteemed as they deserve to be, which is exactly what we intended when we opened our doors.
Mercer Gallery Exhibition
Our incredible differently-able artists displayed their work at the prestigious Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate from 21st Jan to 19th March 2023. The Exhibition, entitled "The World through our eyes", is a curation of work from the past year including paintings, sculpture, printing and mosaic.
Mosaics for Schools
Our team have been working with Bishop Monkton primary school this Jan/February to create some mosaic flower beds for a new garden they are creating in their playground. This incredible project gives our differently able mosaic artists the opportunity to become the trainer; showing children how to mosaic, which of course is a powerful situation for them both to experience. Empowering for our members and a transformation of attitude for the children, seeing people with disabilities in a different light as confident and creative skilled artists. The mosaics become part of the children's legacy at the school for many years and they do some fantastic fundraising for us too! the amazing Team of Year 6's here raised a fabulous £115 for the project to continue its work

The walking Pledge
Back in February, we were contacted by the lovely Heather from Wigton near Carlisle. She visited Harrogate and discovered our amazing Artizan Cafe and Creative Space
Since January 2021 Heather and her border Collie Mick have chosen a different charity each month and pledged to walk a certain distance during the month. Heather supports this by offering a small donation. She doesn't ask for sponsors etc.. it is just really a motivation to keep herself fit and Mick exercised. Heather has pledged to walk 50 miles during March and has sent us a lovely £30 donation,
Thank you so much Heather and Mick
